Class Painting as Visual Poetry

Adele Gibson has an MA in Fine Art from the University of Brighton and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education and has taught in different disciplines for many years. She now works full-time as a professional painter with work in galleries in the South East and London. In 2018, Adele was awarded a prestigious artistic residency in the High Arctic and last year she was awarded Arts Council funding for a project that was realised in the main gallery at the University of Brighton.

She hopes to share her love of oil painting and to enable students to fully exploit the versatility of the medium. Adele believes that by becoming more comfortable and instinctive in the use of paint, students will be more able to translate their inner feelings and thoughts into their painting. This in turn will allow them to create work which communicates powerfully with the viewer.
