Classes Life group (Untutored)

Jim Tiller trained for four years at Southampton College of Art gaining the Intermediate Examination in Arts & Crafts and the National Diploma in Design. Two years National Service in the army followed this, then a series of jobs before completing a final degree year at Brighton College of Art in 1962. 25 years of teaching followed in Moulsecoomb, Brighton, and Warden Park Comprehensive School in Cuckfield.

Jim fell in love with the Paddock Studios after enrolling as a student in a clay modelling life class. Within a short time the modelling class developed into a life drawing group and Jim was asked to take it over. He has been running this untutored class for a number of years. The members meet on Monday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30.

After serving on the committee of Lewes & District Visual Arts Association, Jim became Chairman for 18 years, retiring in 2007. His other interests include classic car racing and the Cats Protection League. Jim is a water colourist, a careful draughtsman and a competent sculptor having exhibited in Southampton and Brighton.
