Lucinda Wait trained as an Industrial designer and worked in commercial design for 25 years in the UK, Asia and America. Upon her return to Europe she began to take steps to fulfil her dream of becoming a portrait painter. Lucinda studied for 4 years with the Barcelona Academy of Art as a figurative painter and student teacher following a centuries old tradition of figurative art that traces back to Michelangelo in the 16th Century.
Now based out of Lewes East Sussex she takes commissions to paint portraits of people, their pets and paints nature for fun. Of her portraiture she says “I am drawn to subjects who dare to be themselves, strong and beautiful characters who are not afraid of showing the world who they are. I am greatly influenced by Rembrandt for his understanding of light and by John Singer Sargent for his mastery of the brush stroke.”
She is always excited to pass on this tradition of teaching and seeing.
